The Wellington Monument in Dublin’s Phoenix Park commemorates the illustrious military career of Arthur Wellesley, First Duke of Wellington. Europe’s largest obelisk, it was completed in 1861. This scene by Joseph Kirk depicts the Indian Wars.
that is brllant, is it painted that colour or naturally blueish
The panel is cast in a dark metal – likely to be bronze (a mixture of copper and tin) that develops a blue-green patina over time. I’m almost certain it isn’t painted.
