Open air dining – Rennes, Brittany. For those who have not yet experienced northern France at first hand, I can thoroughly recommend it. There is no other way to describe sipping an apertif, watching the world go by, than to say it is thoroughly civilized! Kir is usually the drink of choice – kir bretagne, kir normande, kir royale. Try them. They are all delicieux. I should also mention the excellent cidre fermier and the poirier. Very tasty.
